Questions
Questions people ask
How much extra tile should I buy?
Add about 10% for a straight layout and 15% for diagonal or herringbone layouts, which need more cuts. Keep a few spare tiles after the job for future repairs, because later batches can differ slightly in shade.
How many tiles are in a box?
It depends on the tile and the factory. As a guide, 60 x 60 cm usually comes 4 to a box (1.44 m²) and 30 x 30 cm about 11 to a box (about 1 m²). The label on the box is always right, so change the number in the calculator if yours is different.
Should I measure the floor or the wall?
Measure each surface separately and add them up. For walls, measure the full height you are tiling and leave out doors and large windows.
